According to Wine Business, The deal includes the winery, inventory and about 20 acres of vineyards, including 8 acres at Volcanic Hill; 7 acres at Red Rock Terrace and 5 acres at Gravelly Meadows as well as about 0.75 acre at Lake. The sales price was not disclosed.

The transaction closed Wednesday night, said Grégory Balogh, president and CEO at Maisons Marques & Domaines, the sales and marketing division for Louis Roederer in the United States.

The deal is Louis Roeder’s first acquisition in the Napa Valley. In February 2019, Maison Louis Roederer purchased Merry Edwards in Sebastopol in Sonoma County. The French company’s US holdings also include Scharffenberger Cellars.

The late Al and Adelle “Boots’ Brounstein founded Diamond Creek in 1968. Their first vintage was in 1972 and created wines from each of the property’s vineyards. Al Brounstein died in 2006 and Boots Brounstein, in July 2019.

“The acquisition of Diamond Creek is the continuation of our journey into the greatest appellations in the world and our relentless quest to produce great wines with a strong identity. Reflective of their pioneering characters, Al and Boots Brounstein built Diamond Creek from the ground up, producing some of the most celebrated and singular wines of the region,” Frédéric Rouzaud, President and CEO of Maison Louis Roederer, said in a written statement. “I am delighted that, once again, we have the opportunity to carry on the opus of an iconic family and embody its values and savoir-faire,” Rouzaud, said.

Boots Brounstein’s son, Phil Ross, served as managing director at Diamond Creek.

“Most important to my Mom, myself and the family was finding the right partner who would respect the legacy that she and Al built over the last 50 years, and who could even elevate that legacy. Frédéric and his family are the perfect fit,” Ross said.
