Identity Drinks Brands has added two new brands and four new products to its portfolio – Bruxo Mezcals, Pisco Waqar.

UK distributor of Citadelle, Boxer Gin, Sauvelle Vodka and (if we can say one of our favourites) Plantation Rum has turned two.

In celebration of its birthday, Identity Drinks Brands has added two new brands and four new products to its portfolio – Bruxo Mezcals, Pisco Waqar, a double-aged Pierre Ferrand Cognac and a new naval overproof Plantation OFTD 69%.

So, let’s delve deeper into the brands. Bruxo Mezcal (pronounced Bru-Ho) was born when four Mexican friends were celebrating an upcoming wedding. The core range is No 1 Espadin, which is a delicate mezcal due to the slow cooking, with a smokiness tempered to allow everyday drinking and mixing.

Also on offer is No 2 Pechuga, a mix of Espadin and Barril agave which includes a cooked agave in the second distillation, and is also completely vegan. There are also three further expressions in the range – No 3 from Barril agave, No 4 a blend of Espadin, Barril and Cuishe, and a stunning and rare Tobala No5.

Next is Pisco Waqar, voted best unaged spirit at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2014.

Joining its existing portfolio is Plantation Rum OFTD, an overproof Trinidad rum. Rather than come up with the new blend himself, owner Alexandre Gabriel pulled a group of tiki bartenders together at Tales of the Cocktail, where he set them the challenge to come with a new Plantation variant. The group consisted of Martin Cate from Smugglers Cove, Beach ‘Bum’ Berry from Latitude, Scotty Schuder from Dirty Dicks, Paul McGee from Lost Lakes, Plantation’s Paul McFadyen and David Wondrich. OFTD is a blend of young Guyanese, Jamaican and softer Barbados rums.
