High-Altitude Wines from Ancient Aegean, Looking to Expand in New York and New Jersey Markets
About Us
Selendi is a family-owned, estate-bottled winery producing sustainable and character-driven wines from the Aegean region of Turkey, one of the world’s oldest wine-growing landscapes. Founded over twenty years ago by the Öngör family, Selendi began as a passion project, rooted in respect for nature and the art of winemaking.
From the very beginning, the family’s mission has been simple: to create wines that reflect the spirit and flavor of this ancient land and to share them with the world. Guided by internationally renowned consultants and a dedicated local team, Selendi has evolved into one of Turkey’s most recognized boutique wineries, winning awards and accolades from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, Wine & Spirits Magazine, The Washington Post, and the Austrian Wine Challenge, among others.

What Sets Us Apart
From Ancient Soil to Solar-Powered Cellar
- Selendi’s vineyards rest high in the Sarniç Valley, more than 850 meters above sea level, where the combination of altitude, cool climate, and mineral-rich soil produces wines of remarkable structure and freshness.
- Our château-style, estate-grown wines are made in a state-of-the-art, solar-powered winery overlooking the vineyards, where every bottle is vinified, aged, and labeled on-site.
- Under the direction of Italian oenologist Andrea Paoletti and Pelin Zaimoglu, a member of the Öngör family, Selendi crafts a portfolio that blends French precision with Turkish authenticity.

"The wines as a group are powerful and seem built to age. It's quite an interesting performance with a lot to brag about and a lot of upside potential. There's a serious feel to these wines in structure and demeanor."

"Selendi Wines began to arrive stateside this fall and impressed us with their balance of ripe fruit, spice and earth—especially at their prices."

"This $15 red from Turkey tastes like a young Bordeaux without the price tag."
"Selendi is a line of wines made primarily with international grape varieties in a region of western Turkey where wine grapes have grown for four millennia. The Green is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot, and it tastes like a brash young Bordeaux before it learns it belongs to aristocracy. The wine has warmth—without alcoholic heat—and spice underneath a lot of dark berry fruit. There’s also a Rhône-style blend with a purple label and a more expensive 'Artist Series' Bordeaux blend with some shiraz added in. All are delicious."
