Beer sales at Ohio Stadium have been a success, and Ohio State University is adding to its selection.

Columbus Brewing Co., central Ohio’s largest craft brewer, will introduce its first canned beer this fall just for Buckeye football games. The beer is Columbus Brewing’s flagship India pale ale. Last year, local brewers North High and Land-Grant offered canned beers at football games.

Ohio State first served beer at Ohio Stadium for home games in 2015 during a limited run to test the idea before expanding beer sales throughout the Shoe last year. Beer sales during football games topped $1.1 million last year.

Columbus Brewing Co. currently bottles and kegs its beers, and it plans to add a canning line at its Harrison Road brewery to fill orders for Ohio Stadium. The company does not yet have plans for wider distribution of cans, but canned beer is growing in popularity, according to a recent report from the Brewers Association
