Sadler’s Brewing Company has signed a major deal with Halewood Wines and Spirits, which will see the drinks distributor take on the majority share of the Micro-brewery.

The partnership with Halewood will help to further the craft brewer’s portfolio although fifth generation brewer Chris Sadler will remain as managing director of Sadler’s.

Sadler said: “We are proud of our family business and have a strong following throughout the Midlands and increasingly elsewhere in the UK.

“Halewood’s investment gives us opportunity, not only to continue providing hand-crafted beers with a strong provenance locally, but to expand our reach throughout the rest of the UK and internationally.”

Sadler’s, which was originally founded in Oldbury in 1900, will continue to operate independently but Halewood’s infrastructure will allow it to gain new routes to market, while also receiving support in marketing.

Stewart Hainsworth, ceo of Halewood Wines & Spirits, said: “Sadler’s has a fantastic family heritage and Chris has continued the passion for creating characterful beers with a point of difference.

“The current Sadler’s generation is talented and visionary while upholding the original family ethos and with Halewood’s focus on craft we are looking forward to supporting their business.

“The Peaky Blinder brand holds huge potential for the off-trade, which is very focused on listing more craft beers.
