The local partnership between Edwin Brix Vineyard and Kirschbaum’s Strawberry Acres has produced gold medal results.

Wild Stan’s Strawberry Wine, produced by Edwin Brix Vineyard of Juneau, using fresh fruit from Kirschbaum’s Strawberry Acres of Beaver Dam, recently was awarded a gold medal at the 2017 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. The Finger Lakes competition is an annual event with thousands of wine entries from across the country and the world.

Owners of the two local companies – Marty Sell and Stan Kirschbaum – have been partnering to produce Wild Stan’s Strawberry Wine since 2014.

“Our strawberries make wonderful pies and desserts every year and we thought maybe they’d make great wine. This gold medal proves us right,” said Kirschbaum.

The wine is available by contacting Edwin Brix Vineyard by phone or online and also can be purchased in retail locations at Chill Zone in Beaver Dam and at Kraemer Cheese in Watertown.

“Partnering with Stan Kirschbaum in making Wild Stan’s Strawberry Wine has been a great experience for Edwin Brix Vineyard. Stan’s strawberries have added a sweet refreshing fruit wine to our locally grown grape wines,” said Sell.

Edwin Brix Vineyard is Dodge County’s first and only commercial vineyard and winery. Started in 2010, the company produces a variety of red and white wines from grapes grown on the Sell family farm in the town of Clyman. Later this year Edwin Brix Vineyard will open a tasting room and outdoor deck area for sampling and purchase wine. Tours and tastings are offered by appointment.
