Bodega Numanthia is pleased to announce its top ratings received from Wine Spectator.  Wine Spectator’s March 2017 edition rated Numanthia Numanthia atop the competitive set with an exceptional 93 points for the 2012 vintage.  In Wine Spectator’s July 2016 edition, Numanthia Termanthia 2012 earned 95 points. Most recently, Wine Spectator awarded 90 points to Numanthia Termes 2013. Historically known for high scores, these, however, are Numanthia’s highest ratings since the celebrated 2006 and 2004 vintages. These scores reflect the continuous quest for excellence at the winery. Respectively, Numanthia Numanthia 2011 and Numanthia Numanthia 2010 earned 92 points.  Numanthia Termanthia 2011 earned 93 points. 

In the context of Spanish wine, Numanthia 2012 and Termanthia 2012 now stand above their competitors.  Located 100 miles outside of Madrid, Toro’s inhospitable terroir affords it an unusual opportunity to create world-class wines. It is on clay plateaus and slopes where the seventy to one hundred and twenty-year-old vines endure the extreme continental climate with hot summer temperatures of up to 110° F and winters that dip 30 degrees below freezing and average less than sixteen inches of annual rainfall.

About Numanthia:

Situated in the Castilla y León region, the Numanthia estate lies near the small village of Valdefinjas in the province of Zamora within the Toro Denominación de Origen.

Numanthia owns 49 hectares of vineyards, of these 20 hectares are planted with vines aged between 70 and 100 years old.  Another exceptional plot of 4.8 hectares with vines over 120 years old is used exclusively for the estate’s exceptionally rare top bottling – Termanthia.
