Tomintoul and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club bottle blend
Speyside distillery Tomintoul has created a 12-year-old Scotch whisky blend with London’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club to mark the venue’s 60th anniversary.
Iain Forteath, Tomintoul blender, and global brand ambassador worked with the Ronnie Scott’s Allstars band to create the “complex and well-rounded” whisky.
The blend uses single malt from Tomintoul Distillery, Bourbon cask-aged whisky to give a “sweet and creamy base”, and Sherry cask-matured liquid to add “sweet dried fruit layers”.
A small amount of “heavily peated” Tomintoul – Old Ballantruan – is also added to give a “subtle, smoky backbone” to the finished product.
Only 1,000 bottles of Ronnie’s Scotch will be released globally, priced at £75 (US$94) per bottle.
Last year, distillery owner Angus Dundee Distillers released 218 bottles of a 45-year-old Tomintoul single malt for £1,990 (US$2,626), called Tomintoul Vintage 1973 Double Wood Matured.
