The Untitled Series Brings Home Gold

Untitled Whiskey No. 6 Named Best Special Barrel-Finished Whiskey

29/04/2017

On the heels of winning multiple gold medals at the 2017 American Craft Spirit Association (ACSA) Awards and the American Distilling Institute's (ADI) 2017 Spirits Competition, One Eight Distilling is bringing home gold again from the prestigious 17th annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

In a blind tasting, 43 judges evaluated more than 2,100 entries and selected One Eight Distilling's Untitled Whiskey No. 6 as Best Special Barrel-Finished Bourbon. In winning the category, Untitled Whiskey No. 6 – a nine-year old high rye bourbon finished at the distillery in Cognac, Muscat and Oloroso Sherry casks – was awarded a Double Gold Medal. Also winning gold was One Eight's upcoming release, Untitled Whiskey No. 9 – a six-year old wheated bourbon finished at the distillery in Calvados casks – will debut in the distillery's tasting room on May 20th.

One Eight Distilling's whiskeys were not its only spirits recognized at the competition; Untitled Gin No. 2, a barrel aged version of One Eight's Ivy City Gin, was also awarded a gold medal in San Francisco. Earlier this year Untitled Gin No. 2 brought home gold medals from ACSA and ADI, and was named Best in Category for barrel aged gins by ADI judges. Untitled Gin No. 2 is rested in ex-bourbon as well as charred new American oak barrels.

"Our Untitled line of spirits were designed to showcase our creativity with cask finishes and limited-edition collaborations," said CEO Sandy Wood. "We work with sourced whiskeys as well as our own spirits to focus on unique flavors – these small batch releases are a lot of fun."

"It's an incredible honor for our Untitled spirits to bring home gold; for an independently-owned business, it's great to get this level of recognition of our efforts," said Head Distiller Alex Laufer. "The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is one of the most prestigious in the world, and they could not be happier to showcase our spirits and the nation's capital."
