Loch Lomond unveils triple cask-matured 25yo whisky
Highland distillery Loch Lomond has launched its first triple cask-matured single malt Scotch whisky to honour golfer Colin Montgomerie’s three-wood shot that led him to victory in the 1997 Ryder Cup tournament.
Loch Lomond Three Wood Matured 25-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky was first matured in refill American oak, before being transferred into first-fill Limousin oak and oloroso Sherry casks for up to six months.
Bottled at 46.3% abv, the whisky is presented in a black and red gift box and has been priced at RRP £250 (US$312).
Montgomerie is one of several golf ambassadors for Loch Lomond Whiskies. He became a professional golfer in 1987 and has recorded 53 tournament victories worldwide. In 1993, he became the European number one and retained this position for seven years.
Montgomerie said: “As a proud Scot I know that Scotland is world-renowned for both our whisky and our unrivalled golf courses. I am thrilled that the Loch Lomond Three Wood Matured 25-Year-Old Single Malt will celebrate both worlds.
“My shot at Valderrama is one that will live long in the memory for me. To know that it has inspired a single malt and one which carries my signature is a huge honour. I hope that golfers and whisky fans alike will enjoy a dram as much as I have.”
