Sanghera Rum Company has launched Five Rivers, a flavoured white rum made with Punjabi sugarcane, to the UK market.

Five Rivers is based on an old family recipe that has been produced by the Sanghera family for over 150 years.

The name harks back to its origins in Punjab, India, translated to mean the ‘land of the five waters’.

At the foothills of the Himalayas, five rivers travel across the Punjabi plains to enrich the soil, which is home to Indian sugar cane.

Five Rivers is distilled from ‘gur’, made using Indian sugar cane juice, and then fused with natural flavours of orange and green grape.

It is recommended sipped neat or mixed into classic cocktails such as a Daiquiri.

“I’m honoured to bring my ancestors’ recipe to the market,” said Taj Sanghera, founder of Sanghera Rum Company.

“Back home in India people love rum, it is a big part of our culture. I’m really excited to be able to bring the distinctive Indian-style rum to the UK for the first time.”
