31/03/2017

As Unes and Selex announce positive results in relation to their private label ranges and Conad Centro Nord’s deputy sales and marketing director, Stefano Ferrari, discusses the changes being made to the retailer’s ranging, we round up news from the country.

Unes makes Il Viaggiator Goloso available nationwide with Amazon.it

Unes has said that it has made its private label range Il Viaggiator Goloso available online nationwide with Amazon. The move follows a successful trial of the service through Amazon Prime in Milan. The announcement was made by the retailer’s chief executive, Mario Gasbarrino, in a video interview conducted by BisceglieinDiretta.

Gasbarrino was quoted as saying: “We are on the eve of a major change... if there is a delay in Italy in terms of grocery e-commerce, this is more of a supply issue rather than about demand. The customer is ready... Our sales on AmazonPrime are three times higher than the target that we set ourselves... We have to prepare to sell to Millennials and people who no longer want to go to the supermarket.

Conad Centro Nord evolving approach to category management

In an interview in GDOWeek, Conad Centro Nord’s deputy sales and marketing director, Stefano Ferrari, has discussed the cooperative’s changing approach to category management. Ferrari said that ownership for categories will be more centrally controlled, albeit with that role empowered to make more decisions. He said that the changes were linked to the associated project to adapt ranges.

To sustain the pace of sales growth Selex said that it was planning to launch five or six organic wines in 2017.
