Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey Announces Gold and Silver Medal Wins at the American Craft Spirits Association Tasting Convention

14/03/2016

Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey is thrilled to announce that the American Craft Spirits Association has awarded them a Gold Medal for their 2015 limited-edition Cowboy Bourbon™, a Silver Medal for the Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon 2015 flagship and a Silver Medal for the Garrison Brothers Single Barrel Bourbon, which is sold by the barrel or by the case, at the 2016 tasting competition in Chicago.

The American Craft Spirits Association takes great pride in elevating and advocating the community of craft spirits producers, and this convention is the largest gathering of craft spirits in the country, so competition was stiff. This isn’t the first time the ACSA has honored the Garrison Brothers, previously taking home a 2015 Gold Medal for their Single Barrel and the Silver Medal for their Fall 2014, against some of the finest straight bourbon whiskeys in the world

This year, Garrison Brothers could not be more proud of the Silver Medal awarded to their Single Barrel Bourbon, which is for purchase by the barrel or 6-bottle case only, and like its predecessor, the Silver Medal winning flagship 2015 Vintage, it’s made from organic Panhandle corn, soft red winter wheat, two-row malted barley and pure, clean Hill Country rainwater. The 2015 Vintage and Single Barrel Bourbon boast their own unique flavor profiles and complexity; no barrel is ever the same. Perhaps the most humbling achievement, however, is the Gold Medal for the 2015 Cowboy Bourbon ™, which was initially released in 2013 and named in Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible as the Micro Whiskey of the Year scoring a remarkable 96 points. The 2015 edition, the 5,200 bottles of which are now largely sold out, raises the bar and is the oldest bourbon out of Texas at four years old, and barrel proof, unfiltered and uncut, weighing in at 135 proof or 67.5% ABV. As such, it is not meant for the faint of heart but the recognition of its unparalleled quality by the ACSA means everything to the family-owned and operated Garrison Brothers team.

According to Dan Garrison, "The American Craft Spirits Association is the leading judge of quality distilled spirits in America with their opinion highly regarded and are innovative in their recognition of craft brands and distilled spirits. So, yeah, two silvers and a Gold Medal in this tasting competition makes us very proud.”
