Woods Beer & Wine Co. to open bar in former Mad Dog space in Lower Haight
Woods Beer and Wine Co. Lower Haight opens at 530 Haight St. on June 5. Its hours will be 2 to 7 p.m. on weekdays

Jim Woods, owner and founder of Woods Beer & Wine Co., wasn't looking for a new bar space earlier this year — the company already had four across San Francisco, Oakland and Treasure Island — but a friend had a particularly interesting tip about an open storefront. Mad Dog in the Fog, a longtime soccer pub, would be vacating its space in the Lower Haight, and his friend knew the landlord.
He had always been a fan of that block of Haight Street, which includes dive bar hotspots like Toronado and Noc Noc, and the popular Café International, so when the opportunity to snatch up the lease at 530 Haight St., Woods moved on it.
