Gancia wins special ‘Oscar awards’ for prestige wines
The Carlo Gancia wine company owned by the Moscow-based Roust Group has won four prestigious awards for its Italian sparkling wines
The Carlo Gancia wine company owned by the Moscow-based Roust Group has won four prestigious awards for its Italian sparkling wines at the prestigious Italian wine competition linked to the Douja d’Or – the national wine exhibition of selected entries which takes place every year in the town centre of Asti.
Casa Gancia – which claims to be the first producer of Italian sparkling wine – reports it has won two Oscars for its Gancia Alta Langa DOCG Riserva Cuvée 60 Mesi 2009 and its Gancia Alta Langa DOCG Cuvée 36 Mesi 2011.
HIGHLY-RESPECTED JUDGING PANEL
The company says ‘the exquisite taste and quality of Gancia wines were recognised’ by a judging panel consisting of members of the Chamber of Commerce of Asti and O.N.A.V – the Italian Federation of Wine Tasters.
It also adds that the sparkling wine range won two awards for the company’s Gancia Asti DOCG 2011 Metodo Classico Cuvée 24 Mesi and Gancia Asti DOCG Cuvée.
The company proudly states that the Douja D’Or awards are only made to those wines scoring at least 85 points out of 100 and ‘Oscars’ are only presented to those wines with a score higher than 90/100.
Commenting on the achievement, the company said: “These outstanding awards are testament to the impeccable taste of Gancia products and its commitment to the continued pursuit of quality and excellence.
GANCIA WINES/VERMOUTH EXPORTS +61%
“The popularity of Gancia is continuing to climb all around the world. In three years, the production of Gancia wines and vermouths has increased from 19 million bottles to almost 25 million bottles and exports in the first half of 2017 grew by an impressive 61%.”
The Douja d’Or national Exhibition was first held in 1967 and has since grown to become an important event in the calendar of Italian winemakers in the national oenological diary.
The company is owned by the Moscow-based Roust Group which claims to be the largest integrated spirits producer and distributor in Central and Eastern Europe and the second-largest vodka producer – by volume – in the world selling more than 27m nine-litre equivalent cases in more than 80 markets.
