Chapel Down debuts G&T cans

English wine producer Chapel Down has teamed up with mixer brand Double Dutch to launch a ready-to-drink (RTD) canned gin and tonic.

In November 2017, Kent-based Chapel Down made its debut in spirits with the launch of Bacchus Gin and Chardonnay Vodka.

The new Chapel Down Bacchus Gin & Tonic RTD is made with the winery’s Bacchus Gin and tonic from Double Dutch. The 5.5% abv offering marks Chapel Down’s entry into the pre-mixed market.

Winemaker Josh Donaghay-Spire partnered with Double Dutch to select a light tonic to blend with the “highly aromatic and fresh” Bacchus Gin.

“The intense refreshment, the ‘zing’ of Chapel Down Bacchus Gin shines through in this classic G&T serve,” said Donaghay-Spire.

“The tonic selected enhances the heady aroma of intense citrus peel, juniper and freshly-cut grass followed by a palate dominated by ripe citrus fruit with a herbal finish.”

Mark Harvey, managing director of wines and spirits at Chapel Down, said: “There are real dynamism and massive potential for super-premium brands in pre-mixed drinks.

“We are thrilled with our first entrant – refreshingly delicious and presented in a stunning can design, reflecting the beauty of the mother bottle.”

Priced at £2.50 (US$3.25) per 250ml can, Chapel Down Bacchus Gin & Tonic Cans are now available for an exclusive launch period in Selfridges stores and online.

Cases of 12x250ml cans can be purchased directly from Chapel Down online with an introductory price of £25 (US$32.55). It will soon be widely available in both the on- and off-trade.
