Castello di Borghese Vineyard will debut a new wine in collaboration with artist Kara Hoblin and Cornell Cooperative Extension, it was announced at the “Sea Something Save Something” reception at the Cutchogue winery on Saturday evening.

Named Rosé for the Bays, the wine is a rosé made with cabernet franc and the label is designed by Hoblin. Ten percent of the proceeds will benefit Cornell Cooperative Extension’s marine program.

“We’re very excited to be partnering with Cornell to help raise funds for the boys,” Giovanni Borghese said. “We’re very highly anticipating the release of this wine.”

Saturday’s event was the first installment of the “See Something, Save Something” art exhibition, which is designed to spread awareness about protecting our waterways and the marine life that inhabits them.

A percentage of the artwork sold from the show will also benefit Cornell’s marine program.

“We’ve been trying to do more art/science integration and through events like this I think we’re able to expand our reach beyond our usual educational crowd,” Kimberly Barbour, the marine program outreach manager at the Cornell Cooperative Extension said at the event. “It’s a great venue, great idea and I think it’s a great turnout.”

The event featured work from North and South Fork artists and all of the pieces featured a nautical theme. The exhibit will remain on display until June 1.

“Everyone comes together in the community and I think it was great,” Hoblin said.
