The Castorani is an Italy based winery with the roots that go back to the year 1793. Recently, this winery has been in limelight. With two gold, two bronze and two special awards, Castorani indeed stole the show at a major wine competition held this year in London.
The Castorani participated in the London Wine Competition that took place on March 8-9, 2018 in London and four wines including Jarno Rosso, Podere Castorani Reserva, Cadetto Montepulciano and Paparazzi Prosecco were awarded different titles and medals. Jarno Rosso and Podere Castorani Reserva were awarded gold medals, Cadetto Montepulciano and Paparazzi Prosecco won bronze medals and the Castorani was named Best Winery of the Year for its Jarno Rosso Wine. The Jarno Rosso also made the winery proud for being Italy’s Best Wine in the Show.
The Jarno Rosso is deep ruby red coloured with violet tones. It has a wonderful nose of concentrated aromas with notes of faded grape, spices, small forest fruits and liquorice. The light notes of vanilla, chocolate and faded rose give it an exceptional flavour. This wine is very structured on the palate, full-bodied and rich. The aftertaste of this wine has a long-lasting, intense and persistent effect on your palate.
The Podere Castorani Reserva is also a deep ruby red coloured wine with violet tones. It has aromas of spicy liquorice and small forest fruits with notes of vanilla, chocolate and faded rose. This is a full and rich-bodied wine with silky and elegant tannins, intense, persistent and long aftertaste finish. The palate has notes of mature red fruits and tobacco.
The Cadetto Montepulciano wine is ruby red with violet tones. Its nose is full of deep red fruit notes with light hints of chocolate and spice. This wine is medium-bodied to the palate, with mature tannins and notes of chocolate and spices.
The Paparazzi Prosecco is straw yellow with greenish hints. It has intense aromas of white flowers, acacia, peach and white apple. This wine is intense floral on the palate, with hints of white fruits.
All the bottles from this estate tell a beautiful story of passion, tradition and quality. The estate lies in an ideal setting, in the municipality of Alanno, in the province of Pescara, between Majella national park and the Adriatic Sea. 350 meters above the sea level, this area enjoys the perfect exposure of sun and night winds which give the wines their unique and valuable character.
The London Wine Competition looks to identify and reward the wine brands that successfully pass the test in all three criteria which includes quality, packaging and value for money. The London Wine Competition believes that every wine is first judged on its look and then its price and lastly by the quality, hence, these three factors are the key criteria on which the London Wine Competition operates.
