Orphan Barrel Distilling Company in Tullahoma, Tennessee has announced the 10th member of its family of orphaned whiskies. This time around, it’s the 4th release of Rhetoric with a 23 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Aged three years longer than the first release, it is slightly more mature and carries a higher proof.

Rhetoric uses a three grain, high corn mash bill made up of 86% corn, 8% barley and 6% rye. Tasting notes from Orphan Barrels says the Rhetoric 23-Year-Old tastes of rich, smooth coffee, dark chocolate, anise and cracked nuts with juicy dried fruit and just a hint of leather. The finish is long with oak and a touch of smoke.

The whiskey was distilled by United Distillers between 1990-1993 at the Bernheim Distillery (now Heaven Hill Distillery) located at 17th and Breckenridge in Louisville, Ky. The barrels were found in the old Stitzel-Weller Warehouses in Louisville. The whiskey is hand-bottled in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

The whiskey will continue to be progressively aged and released annually at a year older. According to the website, there are at least two future releases planned for a 24 and 25 year old Rhetoric.
