Mr Black Single Origin series celebrates terroir

Australian cold brew coffee liqueur producer Mr. Black has launched the first expression in its new Single Origin series, which focuses on different coffee regions.

03/12/2019

The first expression, called Mr Black Single Origin Colombia, is made with coffee grown in Finca Villa Betulia near Hulia, Colombia.

The coffee for Single Origin Colombia was grown by Luis Aníbal Calderón and his family, who have more than 60 years of experience in growing coffee.

The brand said it was “natural” to release a range that “celebrates the terroir of top-growing regions around the world”. Demand for single-origin grew 4% in the first six months of 2019, outpacing the total premium coffee segment, according to Nielsen figures cited by Mr. Black.

“We’re a 100% natural coffee liqueur with nothing to hide, and the Single Origin series captures the terroir of each of Mr. Black’s growing region in a bottle,” said Tom Baker, co-founder of Mr Black.

“We’re thrilled for Mr Black to be supporting small-scale farmers and local communities as well as to clear a path for serious coffee lovers to access the world’s finest sustainably grown coffee, combined with our refined neutral grain spirit.

“Before Mr Black, coffee liqueurs were over-sweetened and full of fake, candy flavours. Our Single Origin puts real, specialty coffee on a pedestal.”

Limited to 6,000 bottles globally, Mr Black Single Origin Colombia is priced at US$49.99 and is available to buy in the US at Astor Wine & Spirits and behind the bars of Dante, Eleven Madison Park and Gran Tivoli.
