The arduous task of climbing any mountain deserves a fitting reward, and Douglas Laing & Co is paying tribute to Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Britain, with the newest release in its Old Particular series.

The independent Scotch whisky specialist today revealed the second release in its Consortium of Cards single cask Scotch whisky collection; a Ben Nevis 20yo entitled King of the Hills.

The second playing card-themed bottling in the series, it follows Queen of the Hebrides – launched in February 2017 – a Laphroaig 18 year old.

King of the Hills is matured in a single refill butt, comes in at 50% abv, and is said to deliver a fruity and zesty home-baked character. According to the company philosophy it is bottled the way the distiller intended – at a high strength and non-chill-filtered to preserve the ‘robust and unique character’ of the whisky.
