Berry Bros opens ballot for first Daftmill whisky

Berry Bros & Rudd has opened a ballot for the first 250 bottles of Fife distillery Daftmill’s inaugural Scotch whisky release.

Consumers keen to be among the first to get their hands on the Daftmill 2005 must register their interest on the Berry Bros & Rudd website (bbr.com) by 5 pm on 10 May.

A further 250 bottles of Daftmill 2005 will be released via specialist retailers in early June.

The whisky, which will be priced at £210 per 700ml bottle, has been produced from 100% Chariot barley grown on the Daftmill farm, owned by the Cuthbert family, and was cut on 31 August 2004.

The single malt is a marriage of three different casks and is bottled at cask strength (55.8% abv).

Furthermore, the Fife distillery will also release its Daftmill Summer Release on 22 June at an RRP of £95.

Francis Cuthbert, co-founder of Daftmill Distiller, said: “We operate around the farming year and our unhurried methods of distillation have meant we can only produce around 100 casks of whisky a year.

“The launch of the inaugural release will also be the first chance customers have to see the new label and packaging – we hope the clean, simple and honest design reflects our approach to production.”
