A Devon-based gin company has been named the best in the world, a and there is no way we're not going to try and acquire a bottle.
According to The Plymouth Herald, Salcombe Distilling Company, based in South Devon, won two awards at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition 2017, which is one of the most prestigious spirit events in the world.
The distillery creates Salcombe Gin and won first place in both the World Spirit Competition and the Beverage Testing Institute awards.
The gin is distilled with 13 botanicals that are hand sourced from around the world, including Macedonian juniper, English coriander seed and fresh citrus from historical trading routes once served by the famous Salcombe fruit schooners. Sounds lit.
'We are ecstatic our Gin is now being recognized internationally, an incredible accolade for all the hard work of the past year,' said the company's co-founder, Angus Lugsdin.
'Our main objective is to produce an exceptional handcrafted gin and we strive for perfection in every step of the process.These awards are a real testament to our ethos and hardworking team in Salcombe, Devon.'
There were 2,252 other entries in the running for the title, so it was no mean feat.
'Launched in July 2016, Salcombe Distilling Company is still a relatively new brand, so to be recognized globally at this early stage is a huge honor,' said Howard Davies, the other co-founder of the Salcombe Distilling Company.
