Portland Says the Best Way to Help the Caribbean is to Visit the Caribbean

Portland Cider Company Supports the Caribbean’s Tourism

17/10/2017

As some Caribbean islands struggle to recover from the damaged caused by two Category 5 hurricanes, Portland Cider Company lends its voice to support a universal issue, money.  Or lack thereof.

“The travel and tourism sector is very important to our business here,” said owner Jeff Parrish of Portland Cider Company.  Portland Cider Company’s taproom and cidery sit just about 20 minutes outside the Portland, Oregon city limits which host more than a hundred thousand visitors each year.  Parrish understood the economic power of tourism and opened a second location in the heart of downtown Portland in 2016.  The 28 tap Cider House serves a wide selection of deliciously addictive hard ciders for tourists and locals alike.

Most of the Caribbean islands depend on tourism because it accounts for up to 90 percent of the overall GDP.  “Consumers don’t understand that over 70 percent of our Caribbean destinations are open as usual,” added Karolin Troubetzkoy, president of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association.  They need visitors this winter—both for themselves and to support their suffering neighbors amidst an estimated $1 billion dollars in repairs according to the United Nations.

More than 25 islands in the Caribbean are ready-and-waiting to serve guests once again.  To encourage people to travel and stay in the region, Portland Cider Company is announcing the availability of its products in select islands throughout the region.  Locations like Trinidad, the Cayman Islands, and more.   Excitedly announcing a recent partnership with Velour Imports, a full range of craft ciders made from 100 percent fresh-pressed NW apples are available for purchase from Portland Cider Company.

Known for their English inspired ciders, Portland Cider Company offers a diverse range of tropical, dry, sweet and unique ciders for the traveler. Find Portland Cider Co.’s extensive and diverse product offerings including bottles or cans of Kinda Dry, Sorta Sweet, Apple, Hop’ Rageous, Sangria, Passion Fruit & Perfect Perry.  “We couldn’t agree more with Velour Imports mission to bring craft cider to the masses in travel destinations,” said Parrish.  “We’re one of the first US craft ciders to make the big push into this market, and we’re excited to partner with Velour Imports.”
