Berry Bros & Rudd has announced the international release of Penny Blue VSOP Rum
Berry Bros & Rudd has announced the international release of Penny Blue VSOP Rum. The release represents the first VSOP bottling from the Medine Distillery in Mauritius as part of the Indian Rum Company joint venture between Berry Bros and the Medine Distillery.
The single estate rum will join the award-winning Penny Blue XO and Single Cask releases. The rum is created from Single Estate sugar cane, and following distillation the rum was matured in ex Cognac, Bourbon and Whisky barrels before it was blended by Master Distiller Jean-Francois Koenig and Berry Bros’ spirit buyer, Doug McIvor.
Maxime Sauzier, marketing manager at the Medine Distillery, said: “In adherence to the Penny Blue signature style, the VSOP is effortlessly smooth with orange peel notes on the palate. To preserve the heart of the rum it is non-chill filtered and natural in colour. Finished with a hand-dipped wax seal of the Estate, we believe the VSOP is a true expression of its terroir.
“It was created to offer rum with a natural complexity that is perfect for sipping on its own or as an accessible base for great rum cocktails.”
