Tractor Brewing Company has been awarded gold for its Double Plow Oatmeal Stout at the Los Angeles International Beer Competition

The stout took the top spot in the Oatmeal Stout category during the competition held April 22 and 23. Double Plow Oatmeal Stout is an “earthy, thick malty beer with chocolate and dark roast malts, farm fresh rolled oats and all natural ingredients,” according to a Tractor news release. “(It is) full bodied with a finish on the drier side of the palate.”

“I am pretty proud of this one,” Tractor’s head brewer Josh Campbell states in the news release. “Anytime you can put your beer on the national stage and walk away with a gold it makes you feel good. This is a beer we have worked on for a very long time.”

The Los Angeles Beer Competition partners with the renowned wine, spirits and extra virgin olive oil competitions each year. For 76 years, its competitions have showcased the finest vintages, distilled beverages and extra virgin olive oils from around the world, according to the news release. This is the second year that Tractor has entered the competition. In 2016, Tractor won a silver medal in the Sweet Stout category for its Milk Mustachio Stout. Tractor, which was founded in 1999, offers “easy drinking, accessible beers, and ciders,” which include Almanac IPA, Farmer’s Tan Red Ale, and Delicious Red Hard Apple Cider. The tractor also features small batch specialties that include bourbon and wine barrel aged beers, kettle and barrel sours as well as experimental recipe formulations.
