Bremerton Wines
Premium Australian wines seeking for distributors worldwide
Our Story
Langhorne Creek is unique in that it sits on the rich soil of the Bremer River flood plain. Fresh cool evening breezes from Lake Alexandrina provide a micro climate of mild to warm summer days and cool evenings, perfect for the long ripening of the grapes producing intense and sought after cool climate flavours.
Winemaker Rebecca Willson and Marketing Manager, Lucy Willson have focussed the family’s wine range on high quality and individualistic wines. They have given Bremerton a strong foothold in the highly competitive wine market with Rebecca’s first label at age 25 – the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon winning a trophy and rated third best Cabernet in Australia by Winestate magazine.
Since then the Willson Sisters have taken Bremerton to become one of the best known brands from South Australia’s Langhorne Creek wine region.
Our Wines
Wiggy
2009 Chardonnay
The wine is named after the co-founder of Bremerton, Mignonne "Wiggy" Willson. (Mum!)
This sparkling wine has been made from 100% estate grown Chardonnay from the 2009 vintage and using the method traditional of bottle fermentation.
The wine shows a fine delicate bead with a subtle yeast characteristic, providing a middle pallet richness with a refreshing touch of citrus complimenting the dry finish. Four years lees maturation has added a creamy bready complexity to the wine.
The grapes were picked to achieve delicate flavours, before being crushed and the free run juice separated and then fermented to create our "base wine". It was then transferred to bottle along with a small dosage of yeast and sugar (Tirage). Secondary fermentation occurred in the bottle, which created the characteristic sparkle and fine bead. The wine was then disgorged after 4 years maturing on lees.
CELLARING
"Wiggy" will continue to develop its fine characteristics with aging but is wonderful right now.

Coulthard
2012 Cabernet Sauvignon
Named in recognition of our ancestors, Coulthard is our maternal grandmother’s maiden name!
Cabernet has a very long history in Langhorne Creek and is one of the original red varietals that established the region. This fruit was grown on ancient alluvial flood plain soil, traditional to this area.
This wine allows us to show the pure varietal expression of Langhorne Creek Cabernet. It displays a classic ripe cassis aroma with supportive savoury notes. A well balanced palate showing ripe dark fruits enhanced by a silky textural finish.
Individual Cabernet parcels were fermented separately in small open fermenters to allow excellent extraction of colour and flavour. Each batch was matured in a combination of new and older French and American oak barriques for 18 months. The best individual parcels and barrels were selected to create the Coulthard Cabernet Sauvignon.
CELLARING
This wine will develop with further bottle maturation however the fine tannin structure means the wine can be enjoyed now.

Selkirk
2011 Shiraz
The name "Selkirk" is in recognition of our Grandfather's heritage. This Scottish border town was the ancestral home of the Willson family.
Careful vineyard management and controlled yields ensure premium fruit for this distinctive Shiraz style. It has a deep, vibrant colour and offers distinctive varietal characters, complemented by spicy oak nuances. A layered, well?balanced palate structure and a persistent finish, provides a frame for the full bodied berry fruit flavours and touches of spice.
After fermentation in small batch open top fermenters, the wine spent 18 months in carefully selected fine grain American oak. A proportion of new (30%) American oak barriques were used to enhance its palate structure and flavour complexities without masking the varietal fruit characters.
CELLARING
Although drinking well now, it will develop with cellaring for 4+ years.

Special Release Tempranillo / Graciano
2012 Tempranillo
Our 2012 blend is a great example of how these two Spanish varieties complement each other. Berry, dark rose and spice notes frame the palate in a medium weight, juicy wine. It is well balanced and supported by fine tannins and structural acid.
The Tempranillo and Graciano were fermented separately at optimum ripeness and matured in older oak barriques to preserve varietal character. Blending the varieties pre-bottling has provided a platform for them to compliment and enhance each other.
CELLARING
It is made to be enjoyed anytime, but we do believe with it's fine tannins that this wine will age elegantly.
SERVE
The obvious food pairing is to go with Spanish style dishes - Tapas or even sheep milk cheeses.

Bâtonnage Shiraz/Malbec
2012 Shiraz / Malbec
This 2012 Shiraz Malbec is a selection of premium fruit sourced from our vineyards at Bremerton. Winemaking experimentation and a desire to achieve excellence have led to the development and release of this wine.
The nose shows lifted violet and spice, complemented by a palate showing purity of varietal fruit. This red fruit and white spice is balanced by the structural complexity of fine French oak and a textural finish.
The Shiraz and Malbec parcels were barrel fermented then matured in French oak barriques for 14 months. During this time we stirred the yeast lees (bâtonnage) of the Malbec to provide mid palate complexity and mouthfeel prior to blending.

Old Adam
2010 Shiraz
A stunning example of premium Langhorne Creek Shiraz, showing richness and density integrated with fine elegant oak, giving a structural long finish to the wine.
We are in a unique position in that we are able to keep all parcels of our wine separate from the time of picking through fermentation to oak maturation. Following some barrel maturation, each parcel is assessed, and the most outstanding parcels of Shiraz are allowed further maturation before being blended to create the Old Adam.
The concentrated, high quality parcels of fruit were fermented in open vats, then matured for 24 months in new specifically selected, extra fine grain, American oak. An additional12 months in bottle allows full integration of oak and fruit tannin.
CELLARING
Will evolve and open up with cellaring 6-10+ years.
SERVE
This wine will match well with hearty red meat dishes and winter stock pots.
