We have gone little by little, 20 years in which we have been taking care of the land, pampering the vines, focused on the raw material, from the plant to the label and under the philosophy that quality is always linked to respect for the land.
Thirty years after Bernardo Luna launched himself into winemaking, today, the second generation of the Luna Beberide family, by the hand of Alejandro Luna Beberide, only intends to follow that line of simplicity, quality and seek excellence based on to the care and respect for the vines since in 1998, by the hand of Mariano García, who was a Vega Sicilia winemaker for many years and a friend of the family, when the first reference reds from Luna Beberide were started.
In the eighties, the innovative spirit of Bernardo Luna and the desire to modernize the wine sector in his land led him to experiment with more than 25 varieties of grapes from all over, dedicating an experimental vineyard of 5 hectares in the Finca "El Francés" in Cacabelos. To this end, studying and making wines that coexisted successfully within the firm for years with the autochthonous varieties, but through the years and experience, the Bierzo has imposed itself in such a way over the foreign varieties that currently in Luna Beberide the Mencia and Godello give name to the young wines of society, the Moon Beberide Mencia and Moon Beberide Godello, and the barrels made from the oldest vines on the property are used for its Paraje Wines: Finca Luna Beberide (Paraje Valdetruchas, Los Profesores vineyard) and Art (Altos de Valdetruchas, La recuperada vineyard), a selection of the centuries-old vines of the small steep plots that exist in the heights of the Villafranca del Bierzo estate. The other great country wine, PAIXAR is made from several vineyards in Dragonte (Corullón), scattered in tiny smallholdings, where they work side by side with local farmers to recover the viticultural heritage of a mountain town with ancient historical roots in the cultivation of the vine.
