KECHRIS Winery is a family winery located in Thessaloniki and dedicated to the production of high-quality wine since 1911. Stelios Kechris (enologist, winemaker and representative of the family’s third generation), together with his daughters (Eleni, Maria and Zoe) and the winery’s skilled staff are working towards the production of innovative wines and the company’s further economic expansion. The philosophy of KECHRIS Winery is to give prominence to the typical characteristics of the wines with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). This is the reason why Stelios Kechris is focused on the production of retsina, based on a radically new conception of the winemaking process. The outcome of this process is a modern wine - a “front runner” in quality - that manages to balance the presence of the resin with the aromatic character of the wine. The product portfolio of KECHRIS Winery includes 10 labels. The white wines are made from the indigenous varieties Assyrtiko, Roditis and Muscat of Alexandria as well as the international variety Sauvignon Blanc. The red wines are produced from the varieties Xinomavro, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Seven wines are of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) whereas three labels (i.e., ‘Kechribari’, ‘The Tear of the Pine’ and ‘Roza’) are premium retsina wines that have changed the perception of this traditional Greek product. Today, KECHRIS has an annual production of about 1,500,000 bottles exported in 21 countries all over the world.
