A DENGIE vineyard is set to launch two of its newly produced wines for English Wine Week.

Crouch Ridge Vineyard, in Althorne, will unveil their sparkling white wine and red pinot noir during their open day on Saturday.

The ten acre vineyard grows grapes which are exclusively used to make Crouch Ridge wines, with owner Sam Lonergan launching the vineyard’s first estate wine in June last year.

Sam said: “Last year we launched our first wine which proved to be a huge success winning a silver national award.

“The launch attracted several hundred people who came out on a lovely sunny evening to experience Vineyard tours and taste the local wine.

“This year to complement the wines there will be a wine and food pairing in the marque, locally produced food, beer and soft drinks and also live music with The Alleycats.”

Maldon District Council and vineyards on the Dengie are exploring promoting the area as an internationally renowned wine region to rival France and South Africa.

The open day takes place on Saturday from 2pm to 11.30pm.
