Featuring two “Great Continental” collections, of two Held on 26 April the sale raised £1.1m and was 95% sold by lot, led by six magnums of Georges Roumier’s 1999 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses which sold for £22,325.

Roumier dominated the sale, in fact, the next three best-selling lots encompassing magnums of the domain's 1990 and 1999 Bonnes Mares and more 1990 Les Amoureuses. Another two bottles of the 1999 Musigny sold for £12,338.

Pomerol estate Le Pin was also well represented in the top lots, three magnums of its 2009 vintage as well as six bottles and a further double magnum of it's 2010 all featuring alongside six bottles of 2009 Pétrus and a dozen bottles of 1999 Richebourg from Jean Grivot.

James Reed, director of Sotheby’s Wine, said: “We were delighted with the results of our unique, dual-owner sale which brought a total of £1.18 million, comfortably exceeding the high estimate.

“While the treasures from Domaine Georges Roumier were the stand out successes, wines from other producers such as Liger-Belair, Raveneau, Méo-Camuzet, and Rousseau were also enthusiastically fought over.”
