With a reputation for unearthing the different, the quirky and the new, Manchester-based importer Morgenrot has added to its already colourful craft wine portfolio with the roll out of three new unique wineries from Spain.

With the importer’s new brochure launching on their stand C42 at the London Wine Fair, which runs from the 22-24th May, the new wineries and tipples are all off the beaten track and showcase up-and-coming regions, producers and varietals.

The new trio from Spain includes:

Dominio Dostares – Based in the Oteros region of León, the winery was set up with the objective of saving the Prieto Picudo grape variety. The winery’s aged Cumal Red, which has won a host of awards epitomises the varietal and highlights its enormous potential.

Dominio de Tares – Born in 2000, this winery has been a pioneer in the revival of wines from the Bierzo region of León. Its La Sonrisa de Tares Godello is the perfect reflection of the quality coming from the area with its green apple notes, creamy acidity and long finish.

EGO Bodegas – From the D.O.P Jumilla, these wines are made with grapes from the region’s sun-soaked, arid region that is one of the driest parts of Spain. The Goru El Blanco is a delicate and crisp Moscatell-Chardonnay blend and the Goru 38 Barrels is a Monastrell-Cab Sauvignon blend which is aged in new French and American oak barrels for 12 months providing dark fruit, roast and smoky nuances.

Morgenrot’s Commercial Director John Critchley believes they have huge potential.
