With a 1.3% gain in November, the Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 index has risen to its highest level since September 2011.

Burgundy was strongly represented in the best-performing labels last month, with Comte de Vogüé’s 2014 Musigny Vieilles Vignes gaining 12.6%, Armand Rousseau’s 2013 Chambertin up 11.6% and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s 2012 Romanée-Conti rising 9.3% for example.

Another strong performer was Opus One’s 2013 vintage which rose 10.4% in price and Cheval Blanc’s 2006 also went up 8.9%.

The month’s worst-performing labels were all Bordeaux, including two vintages of Haut-Brion (2005 and 2006), Montrose’s 2010 (-2%), Haut-Bailly 2009 (-2.2%) and Vieux Château Certan 2009 (-4.1%).

A broader picture of the fine wine market’s situation will be revealed soon when Liv-ex releases the data from the Fine Wine 1000 index.
