Big Peat and Provenance special editions mark Fèis Ìle

Scotch whiskey maker Douglas Laing & Co has released two special edition bottlings of its Big Peat and Provenance brands to celebrate the Islay Festival of Music and Malt, Fèis Ìle.

Big Peat’s Pals is a limited edition iteration of the Islay blend – a classic Big Peat recipe of liquid from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen distilleries, but finished in Spanish Sherry butts for the first time ever.

The blend’s packaging features more than 300 faces of Big Peat fans from around the world collated through a social media competition earlier this year.

Big Peat’s Pals Fèis Ìle 2017 Limited Edition is bottled without coloring or chill-filtration at 48% abv. Just 1,600 bottles will be available globally.

Provenance Caol Ila 6 Years Old is a single cask whiskey featuring a black and gold foiled label design and tasting notes from Cara Laing, director of the whiskey at Douglas Laing & Co.

The expression is also bottled without coloring or chill-filtration, at an abv of 50.6%.

“We have enviable stocks of Islay Whisky, and were spoilt for choice when selecting our single cask release for Feis Ile 2017,” commented Cara Laing. “This feisty Caol Ila captured our imaginations, with its youth preserving that archetypal peat smoke character that Islay malts are celebrated for.

“By making our Fèis Ìle bottlings available to our global distribution partners, we’re striving to deliver the ultimate taste of Islay to those who can’t make it to the festival in person.”

Earlier this year, Douglas Laing unveiled the first single cask whiskey in its new limited edition Old Particular Consortium of Cards range, inspired by a deck of playing cards.
