Southern Wine & Spirits opens storage and retrieval system facility in California

Alcoholic beverages distributor Southern Wine & Spirits of America has opened its new automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) facility in Union City, California.

The new facility follows the opening of the company's Southern Supply Center regional distribution center in Tracy, California in 2013.

Developed in partnership with W&H Systems and Westfalia Technologies, the AS/RS facility houses four storage and retrieval machines that refill pallets automatically.

The 334,000ft2 facility with deep pallet storage is capable of storing 24,750 pallets.
