Sambrook's Brewery Limited named Best Brewery of the Year by the Leading Beer Competition in London

Meet 2018's best brewery and best beer by value - multiple award winner at the 2018 London Beer Competition.

16/08/2018

2018 London Beer Competition has announced that Sambrook’s Brewery has been named the Best Brewery of the Year in 2018. The London Beer Competition is the only international beverage competition that rates all its entrants for three major criteria – quality, value and packaging.

In addition to this special award, this brewery also won the Best Beer of the Year by Value and a bronze medal for its Battersea Rye – a brown British beer. Battersea Rye is a mix of fruity British hops and light rye ale. Blackcurrant notes mingle nicely with the spiciness of the rye and produce a rich flavour with deep-seated bitterness.

Duncan Sambrook started Sambrook's Brewery Limited in 2008 and there were only a few breweries, around five, operating in London. Duncan and ex-brewer David Welsh, who was retired but called back, worked together to bring brewing back into the heart of London. The old photography studio turned into a brewhouse for them and the very first cask of Wandle launched in 2008. Though the London Beer scene has been changed today, Duncan and his team produce award-winning beers with the same enthusiasm even today.

About the competition

The London Beer Competition recognizes and rewards the beer brands that have successfully been created to identify with and target a specific beer drinker. The competition judges beer in three key areas - quality, value for money and packaging. To be an award winner in this competition, all you need to have is a good quality beer that offers great value for money and a look that stands out on the shelf of the bar. 2019 London Beer Competition is back and if you have a beer with the above qualities, you can enter your beer here.
