Bira91, the first global craft beer from India, has been selected for the ‘Beer of the Month’ programme at the United Nations. As a consequence, Bira 91 will be highlighted throughout the month of May to delegates, ambassadors and other special guests visiting the exclusive United Nations North Delegates Lounge. 

A hotspot at the United Nations’global headquarters, the Delegates Lounge attracts heads of state and other political, entrepreneurial, and social thinkers from around the world. The lounge is considered to be within international territory and is not open to the public.

Bira 91 is the first imported beer to be selected for the program, the company claimed. Later this month, Bira 91 Founder and CEO Ankur Jain will lead a tasting and discussion where he’ll share the company’s success story and his own journey as an entrepreneur, the company informed.

“We’re very excited to introduce Bira 91 to global consumers and members of the U.N.,” Jain said. “The United Nations Delegates Lounge is a fantastic space for delegates and other global leaders to share their ideas and come up with solutions to make the world a better place. Now they can do so while enjoying a cold Bira,” Jain said. 

The varieties that will be available to delegates are Bira 91 White, a wheat beer with low bitterness, and Bira 91 Blonde, a hoppy craft lager. Specially brewed and handcrafted, the beer is made with all natural ingredients from across India, and is currently available at select outlets and retailers throughout New York City in both draught and bottles. 

The brand will also be introducing cans and several new varieties later this year while expanding into New Jersey, Boston and Philadelphia. Bira 91 also recently expanded to the west coast and can be found at Trader Joes throughout California. 

Meanwhile, the promoters of Bira 91 has also announced their partnership with one of the sought after tech event in New York, TechCrunch Disrupt. Bira 91 is the official sponsors for the TechCrunch Hackathon scheduled at Pier 36 in New York on May 13 and 14.
