Suffolk producer Aspall has launched canned cider to satisfy growing demand for consumers for “mid-strength cider that doesn’t compromise on quality or taste”.

Aspall Cyder, the new canned drink, has an abv of 4.5% and is made in the Aspall house style by blending culinary and bittersweet apple varieties such as cox and russet.

It has an exclusive listing at Waitrose starting on May 1, and then it will be rolled out across the off-trade.

Des Smith, chief executive at Aspall, said: “Our new mid-strength Aspall Cyder will be a cider for all occasions. By making it available in cans, we are increasing the opportunities for people to enjoy our premium cider in a range of settings. Aspall Cyder can be packed into a picnic, taken to the beach or simply enjoyed at home.

“Made with the same obsessive attention to detail as all the ciders in our range, Aspall Cyder reflects our proud cider-making heritage while responding to current demands from a wider market.

“We’re confident Aspall Cyder will prove a massive hit in both the on-trade and off-trade, especially as the warmer days arrive.”
