“Siamo Dolcetto†“We are Dolcettoâ€. Clavesana is the first Dolcetto grower of Earth. It is also Italy’s bestselling Dolcetto since 1959. From 32 founding fathers 54 vintages ago, to today’s 350 estate owners: Clavesana’s 350 Co-vintners are growing with every vintage. Each Co-vintner owns about four acres of vineyard. 90% of what Clavesana grows and bottles and sells is Dolcetto: 300.000 cases. Clavesana sells 12% of Dolcetto sold on Earth. 10% of Clavesana’s production is of the other main DOC and DOCG appelations of Piemonte. This 10% is branded LAN’s DOCs, which stands for Langhe Area Network: Piemonte’s Lan Party is made of 350 piemontese Co-vintners. Clavesana’s market is 90% domestic. “Conferimento Totale†is the creed and code of behaviour of Clavesana’s 350 families: it means complete and mutual commitment from planting to harvest. 20% more than market price* is what each Co-vintner was awarded by Clavesana as a reward and as an incentive for benchmark-quality. (*yearly average over the past decade). Clavesana’s logo features the ten landmark-â€campanili†of the towns where Clavesana’s stakeholder’s population lives. They also stand for the towns of Dolcetto’s heartland population. The keys are the symbol of the town of Clavesana, which is named the Gate into the Langhe district. When two Piemontese oxen call it a day, they have worked one “Giornata†— about one acre. This particularity is at the root of Clavesana’s singular plurality in 1349 Giornate, about 1330 acres of Clavesana’s vineyards. Clavesana’s microvinification is called: Vinificazione alla Giornata. And “Allagiornata†are Clavesana’s Single Origin Dolcettos – Dogliani DOCG designated. “UnaGiornataPerDomani†is the name of Clavesana’s nursery: one Giornata of mothervines at the Scuole Elementari – the historic elementary school building recently awarded to Clavesana at a public auction. In this School, high up in the Langhe hills, Clavesana will host guests and events of cultural and culinary impact.
