Independent winegrowers for 5 generations, Richard and Eric CHEVALIER now run the family-owned vineyards established for 170 years on the Fronsac clay and limestone plateau. We are proud to present our Bordeaux Right Bank estates, spread across 4 appellations : - Chateau HAUT L' ABEILLE AOC Bordeaux, blanc, rose et rouge - Chateau CHEVALIER LESCOURS AOC Saint-Emilion Grand Cru - Chateau LAFLEUR DE VIAUD AOC Lalande-de-Pomerol - Clos 126 AOC Pomerol : our latest gem acquired in 2019 We are a dynamic independent winegrower and we market our wines directly. Our philosophy is to produce original and limited cuvees distinct by the terroir, the age of vines, the grape variety and the blend, that deliver great value yet with very decent prices. We are also adapting to the new consumer demands, offering natural wine without sulfite as well as vegan certified wines. We produce fruity, easy-to-drink wines but also more structured wines with ageing potential. Some small-batch crisp, aromatic rosé and whites : - Directly pressed rosé : 100% Cab franc, harvested at night to preserve the freshness of the grapes, vegan certified - Unoaked dry white, very aromatic : hand harvested Sauvignon gris/Sauvignon blanc (50/50), vegan certified - Dry white aged in Burgundy barrels : for 6 months on fine lees with light lees stirring (Sauvignon gris/Sauvignon blanc 50/50), vegan certified Some nice fruit-driven merlot-based plot selections : - Our natural wine, “Origine” : pure Merlot fermented with natural yeasts, without any sulphite - Our classic, Chateau Haut L’Abeille : 35-year-old vines (Merlot and Cab Franc 90/10) on clay-limestone plateau And some more powerful yet balanced wines, with round tannins and freshness : - Our premium cuvee : plot of Merlot vines on a clay-gravel hilltop - Our Lalande-de-Pomerol, Chateau Lafleur de Viaud : 35-year-old vines (Merlot/Cabernet Franc, 90/10) on sandy-gravelly soil Finally, we are starting a conversion to organic farming from the 2020 vintage, and our goal is that our 3 vineyards in Lalande-de-Pomerol, Pomerol and Saint-Emilion become organic certified from the 2022 vintage. We work together with consultant oenologist Jean-Philippe FORT from Michel ROLLAND’s team.
