We are a family-run winery located in Manzanares-Ciudad Real, holding the status of "Pago Wine" which comes to mean that we have our own appellation. We are one of thirteen wineries in Spain that holds this title which guarantees that the grapes come from a very well-defined geographical region with specific climate and soil which are not found in the surrounding areas. Since the wines we produce didn't fit into the characteristics of La Mancha wine, they created a new appellation for us, DOP Pago Casa del Blanco. 100% of the grapes come from the "pago" certified vineyard that directly surrounds the winery. We have a very low yield of kg of grapes per Ha. Our legislation calls for a maximum of 7,500 kg Ha., but at the moment we barely reach 3,000. One of the interesting characteristics of the wine is its colour. Due to the antioxidants in the wine the colour is that of a younger wine, considering that all our red wines are aged in oak for 12 months and in the bottle at the winery for at least 3 years. However, what truly makes this wine singular is the high content of lithium it possesses. The volcanic rock in the vineyard “basalt” gives lithium to the soil, which is then absorbed by the vines, resulting in lithium in the wine, 10 times more lithium than other wines. Lithium is an element, like potassium or calcium, that just so happens to be a natural antidepressant. This singularity is the reason for us having obtained our own appellation. Our total production is about 80.000 bottles. All grapes go through two selection tables so that only the best individual grapes go to the press. We have just released the 2007 vintage.
