According to the Bizjournals, Willamette Valley winemakers are delivering some 20,000 bottles of wine and nonalcoholic sparkling grape juice to health care workers throughout the region.

The gesture of thanks for their work amid the Covid-19 pandemic was borne of a beef stroganoff dinner that Recipe Neighborhood Kitchen in Newberg prepared for workers at Providence Newberg Medical Center last month. Raptor Ridge Winery heard about the dinner and offered to throw in some wine to accompany it.

The wine was well received, prompting Annie Shull, proprietor and chief operating officer at Raptor Ridge, to make a wine donation to Oregon Health & Science University.

It was pointed out, good-naturedly, that not everybody at OHSU got a bottle, leading the winery to dispatch another pallet of wine, and soon the Willamette Valley Wineries Association was on board with the effort. The aim is to get a bottle of wine in the hands of every health care worker in the region who wants one.
