Alara Cellars garners awards at the Central Coast Wine Competition with the Best of Show, Best White Wine, Best of Class and a Double Gold Award for her 2017 Grenache Blanc

Alara Cellars garners awards at the Central Coast Wine Competition with the Best of Show, Best White Wine, Best of Class and a Double Gold Award for her 2017 Grenache Blanc. Among 18 judges and over 700 wines, the Grenache Blanc was voted as a unanimous decision during the blind tasting. This marks the first time that a Grenache Blanc has won the Best of Show Award in the competition’s history. Having just opened in 2017, this is the first time that Alara Cellars has submitted wines into any competition or judging. Alara Cellars also gained a Bronze Award for the 2016 Grenache and 2015 Tempranillo, along with a Silver Award for the 2016 Pinot Noir. Winemaker and owner, Janu Goelz states, “I feel truly honored by the results of this competition. I was really just crossing my fingers for a gold medal on any of the wines I submitted.”

The 16th annual Central Coast Wine Competition takes place in Paso Robles at the California Mid-State Fair. Among the team of judges include Chief Judge Tim McDonald, Matt Kettman, Mary Orlin and other wine industry leaders, journalists and educators. The Central Coast Wine Competition offers wineries to showcase their gold-medal winning wines at the Gold Medal Tasting and Wine Industry Awards Night. Alara Cellars will be pouring the 2017 Grenache Blanc at this event taking place on July 20, 2018, at the California Mid-State Fair.
