Napa Valley Distillery is releasing a limited-edition whiskey in honor of the firefighters of the Napa Fire Department “who risk their lives to save ours.”
“Old Engine #4” is named after the retired Napa Fire Engine #4. Fifty percent of the proceeds from sales, about $17,500, will be donated to the Napa Fire Department’s Charitable Fund.
The whiskey was distilled in 2007 and aged in used bourbon barrels for nine years. It was finished in used Napa Valley Sauternes-style wine barrels. Only 500 numbered bottles will be released to the public. Sales will be limited to the Distillery.
Firefighters will be joining the Napa Valley Distillery production team to help dump the barrel, proof down, blend, bottle, and label this special whiskey. They will also be attending the Old Engine #4 Whiskey Release Party on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 5-8 p.m., along with Old Engine #4 in all of its glory, and several other fire engines from the Napa Fire Department.
The release party will feature a local Napa food truck Smokey’s BBQ, and local band Mister Completely.
