Target Hires Media Exec From MillerCoors

Stevie Benjamin Will Oversee Retailer's Media Teams

06/02/2015

Another top-ranking media executive is leaving MillerCoors. Stevie Benjamin, the brewer\'s senior director for marketing connections, is joining Target as the retailer\'s VP-media strategy.

Ms. Benjamin will "lead Target\'s internal and external media teams in driving Target\'s media strategy, with an emphasis on creating integrated marketing communications campaigns that effectively leverage paid, owned, earned and shared media channels," Minneapolis-based Target said in a statement.

She will report to Kristi Argyilan, senior VP of media and guest engagement. Ms. Argyilan reports to Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Jones.

Ms. Argyilan said in a statement that Ms. Benjamin\'s ability to "create and execute big media ideas, especially in content and digital media, aligns perfectly with our focus at Target."

Ms. Benjamin\'s departure comes nearly six months after the brewer\'s top media exec, VP-Marketing Connections Jackie Woodward, left to become VP-global media at General Mills, which is also based in Minneapolis. After Ms. Woodward left,

MillerCoors stated that Ms. Benjamin would report directly to Chief Marketing Officer Andy England until further notice.

But in the wake of Ms. Benjamin\'s departure, the Chicago-based brewer is restructuring its media operations team to give oversight to VP-Innovation David Kroll, who will add media and digital to his responsibilities, a MillerCoors spokesman said.

Brad Feinberg has been promoted to media director, reporting directly to Mr. Kroll.

Unlike Ms. Woodward, Mr. Kroll will not oversee sports and entertainment marketing. Adam Dettman, the company\'s director of sports and entertainment marketing, will continue reporting to Mr. England. MillerCoors is also in the process of hiring a VP for insights and analytics who will report directly to Mr. England, according to an internal memo.

Ad Age named Ms. Benjamin a "Woman to Watch" in 2012, noting that the brewer had moved aggressively into branded and digital content under her watch.

Originally from Minneapolis, Ms. Benjamin spent time at Verizon, MediaEdge and Ogilvy & Mather before starting at Coors Brewing Co. in 2005, which merged with Miller Brewing Co. in 2008 to form MillerCoors.

In a memo to MillerCoors employees announcing Ms. Benjamin\'s departure, Mr. England said that "not only is this an exciting career-growth opportunity for Stevie, but it gets her back to her home state and closer to family."
