- The Company- My name is Giovanna Paternoster, founder of Quarta Generazione. I grew up in a historical winemaking family and as a member of the fourth generation, I named my project “Quarta Generazione”, which literally means “The Fourth Generation” in Italian. Being part of a winemaking family fueled my passion for this craft at a young age. Quarta Generazione is a company with industry expertise on Aglianico del Vulture, on of the great Italian red wine, which is our great product. Our goal is to raise awareness of Aglianico both nationwide and internationally, through positioning it as an important experiential wine and to recall its legend as meditation wine. Our project is equipped with three hectares of land, an experienced winemaker and requisite synergies with local professionals, that believe in promoting local excellence in an innovative way. - The Wine: Aglianico del Vulture DOC - Territory: the vineyards are set on the slopes of Monte Vulture (in Basilicata), a big sleeper volcano, with seven tips and two big craters that today host two lakes, in the heart of South of Italy, between Naples and Bari. - Grape Harvest: end of October, manual in small boxes. - Body and personality: ruby red tones, ripe and undergrowth fruit aroma, moderately spiced. The taste is dry, rightly tannic, balanced and elegant. - Glass and Service: We recommend to use a wine glass typical for the wine of full body. Temperature of service 16°/18°C. - Alcohol: 14,5% - Grape: 100% Aglianico del Vulture - Vinification and Aging: traditional fermentation of red wine at controlled temperature (20/25°). Final aging of 12 months in big barrels and 6 months in bottle. The mineral volcanic lands support long aging (10/15 years).
