The estate is owned by the construction group Briziarelli, founded in 1906 by Pio Briziarelli (1878-1966). Over the years the company acquired many plots of land in zones of special interest, including 50 hectares (123 acres) in the heart of the famous wine production zone for Sagrantino di Montefalco on the border of the communes of Bevagna and Montefalco. Starting in 2002 , 17 hectares (42 acres) of vineyards were planted, all entitled to Montefalco Rosso DOC or Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG. The vines are treated with meticulous care in order to achieve the highest possible quality. In 2012 the construction of a state-of-the-art wine making facility took a start, beautifully integrated into nature. Our winery is located in Umbria, the green heart of Italy, on the border of the communes of Bevagna and Montefalco. Currently 17 hectares under vine (on a total of 50 hectares, with possibility of future expansion): * 7 ha Sagrantino (4.5 ha in Montefalco and 2.5 ha in Bevagna) * 6.5 ha Sangiovese (all in Bevagna) * 3.5 ha Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah ( 2 in Montefalco, 1.5 ha in Bevagna) Briziarelli key points •100% Estate Grown Grapes; 100% quality control •Harvested by hand. / No Machines = More selection = Best quality • Meticulous work in the vineyards :a young ambitious team of vineyard workers employed the whole year, unlike many others estate using season labor. •Vineyard pruning: Spurred Cordon (Cordone Speronato) •Separate vinifications of grape varieties and different plots to highlight the potential of each parcel and grape variety •Fermentation: temperature controlled stainless steel tanks •Ageing :barriques and tonneaux • Best possible grapes: maximum concentration in the vineyards and not too much extraction in the winery in order to preserve elegance •Rising star: great potential: already very high quality with young vines and meticulous work in the vineyards, unseen in the region
