Abbazia di Novacella is an active monastery and is producing wines since 1142. The winery is located in Valle Isarco, the northernmost wine region in Alto Adige and produces mostly white wines (70%). The wines are characterized by a crispy acidity, fruity aromas and minerality. The main grape varieties are Kerner, Sylvaner, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Grüner Veltliner, Gewürztraminer and Müller Thurgau for the whites, and Pinot Nero, Schiava and Lagrein for the reds. All of our wines are produced in 2 product lines, the classic one and the Praepositus wines, where the grapes are coming from the best vineyards. The main focus is on the production of high quality wines, the annual production is approximately 750.000 bottles.
