Tagai ‘Scar Tree’ Shiraz is named after an ancient red gum standing on the banks of the Bremer River in Langhorne Creek, South Australia. This old red gum overlooks the Shiraz vineyard where fruit for this wine is sourced. Tagai (the tree) was scarred long ago by aborigines resident to the area and part of its bark removed to make a canoe. Scar trees or canoe trees are some of Australia’s oldest living archaeological sites and can be seen throughout Australia.   This vineyard has been lovingly tended by one family for over 120 years and the quality of the fruit is world class. This has been proven by our first vintage winning Trophy for Best Shiraz at the Australian Boutique Wine Awards 2014 along with Champion Wine and Best Shiraz at the 2016 Langhorne Creek Wine Show.   We are proud to showcase what Langhorne Creek the area has to offer as one of Australia’s oldest grape growing regions and one of the unsung heroes of the Australian wine industry.   Wine is the a sum of many parts - quality in grape growing and wine making, great design in packaging, care in getting to where it is sold and expertise and quality in wine service.
