At the beginning of the 20th century Miguel Pons Justo, the heir of a family with a long tradition of craftsmanship, began to carefully bottle gin and make it available more widely. He chose the century-old family business name and image of the “Xoriguer” windmill, built in 1784 and situated on the family estate, to represent his distillery. The traditional values of quality and refinement that Miguel Pons Justo instilled in his liquor production business are upheld to this day. Due to its origins, traditions and Mediterranean characteristics, Xoriguer Gin-Mahón has official designation (denominación geografica) as a traditional specialty product “E. T. G. Gin-Mahón” that is recognised throughout the European Union. Xoriguer remains a family business offering a distinctive range of rare and traditional liquors, in addition to its flagship product, Xoriguer Gin. Today it has ceased to be just a local curiosity and has an ever-widening reach, with its hand-crafted production methods and distinctive bottle.
